In 1962 the first traditional Thai Medical School opened at the Wat Pho Temple in Bangkok. Over the past 50 years the school has become a global center for training in the Wat Pho method.
According to Traditional Thai medicine the human body has ten major energy lines (Sen Pra Tan Sib) and about 72,000 minor lines, all of which originate from the navel and extend throughout the body. Stress from seasonal change, aging, jetlag, change of climate, sleeping problems, unhealthy eating, poor work habits and many other things can cause blockages in these lines resulting in illness and disease. Manipulating the pressure points along the lines stimulates the flow of internal energy throughout the body eliminating toxins and restoring the body to its natural balance.
